My 92 clubwagon had such bad connections due to corrosion that it would not start. I cleaned terminals and cables and reconnected. I waited a few mins before driving to help the computer and now the idle is low. No codes from the tester. 5L engine
Welcome to FTE!
Being a 92, I'm just wondering if the throttle body might be a little dirty between the bore & throttle plate? Might not be getting enough air past the plate?
AL.
Drive it for a little while. Since the computer was disconnected, it will go through a "learning" process. It has the ability to compensate for sensors that are not bad, but whose readings are a little different than normal.

Thanks for the tips. This was my first post and a fantastic forum. I have been driving around for about a week since reconnecting the battery and still is running low idle. Could the problem be a bad ground or maybe the IAC valve. She has 217,000 kms (125,000 miles) on her. Before I cleaned the terminals she ran fine but now she will go to high idle when cold but when she warms up she is idling low that the battery gauge needle goes way down. The last thing I was thinking about was the fuel gauge. Do ford fuel gauges just go completely or do they die a slow death and lose pressure gradually. I have replaced the fuel regulator a couple of years ago. Any help or tips is very much appreciated. Thank you.
You may want to check and clean the throttle body like dealford said, and also the IAC valve.
You can also unplug the IAC valve while it's running. If the engine dies quickly, then turn the idle stop screw so it opens the butterfly a little bit. But it's a good idea to clean the internals before doing this.
Do you have a problem with the fuel guage? The fuel regulator has nothing to do with the guage.
