I've gone traveling with my other half when things were good between us. I couldn't believe what 4 wheelers would do around the big rigs. My other half has been driving those rigs for 14 to 15 years now. I honestly for the life of me can't figure out what gives the idiot behind the wheel of a passenger car the right to endanger the life of these semi drivers. I've seen some of them come flying around passing us the jump in front of us then decide to slow down or try to stop in front of us. I was so terrified by it all I couldn't get back into the truck with Brian ever again. 80,000 pounds of moving metal does not stop on a dime. And yes, I've seen families cruising the freeway with little kids in the back and the driver decides to NOT SEE the semi next to him. That's a smart driver. Turn the coin over to see that not all semi drivers are as virtuous. I was coming out of Globe one night on 60 heading to Phoenix and had a semi come up on my bumper in a no passing zone. The posted speed limit was 55. I was already cruising at 65. There was no where for me to go to get out of his way. (two lane highway) I took it up to 80 and that guy was still staying on my bumper. I knew I was in trouble when I felt him start pushing my car. He wasn't honking or indicating that he was in trouble at all or anything to show he saw that I was there. I ended up taking a run a way ramp to get away from him. That was in a 78 Dodge Aspen. Try hitting one of those ramps and stop before you hit the sand. I did. That guy never stopped to see if I was alright. He just kept going. I jumped on my cell and called Brain who about that time should have been coming up from Tucson to meet me in Phoenix. He caught up with the guy at the truck stop on 59th and I-10. This guy was bragging about what he had done. Brian wouldn't have done anything until he descibed my car. There are some bad apples out there using that 80,000 pounds of moving metal to scare the daylights out people for fun too. I know that not all truckers do that. There are many who are the most helpful people I've run across. They take a lot of c-a- from other drivers, police and with all the laws and regulations, they are the life blood of this nation. There is not one item on any store shelf that hasn't been transported on a big rig. My hat's off to the brave men and women who drive those trucks with honest intent for a job well done.....
Mionske/cook. So, what happened to the trucker? You can't tell me that he got off scott free with it. Did you call the HP or anything like that? Thats at the very least wreckless endangerment.
For that matter, did Brian clean the guys clock? I would think he must have made it clear to the guy that he was messing with the wife of a fellow trucker! -TD
