OT - Heavy Metal

Whether you talk to somebody with a gas/diesel/electric engine, or a GM/Mopar/whatever – nobody would deny we are slinging some heavy metal with the rigs in this topic. Even with that, many of us are not satisfied with just having a 4-ton gorilla in our stable – we have to go and poke it with the mod-stick.

In honor of all those who ponied up (in more ways than one), I had an idea. I remember running into a situation on a long haul across Oregon where a ricer and I were playing leapfrog. Well... he was, I was just minding my own business with the cruise and the tunes on. I'd have to pass him on the hills, but he'd pass me on anything but the hills. This was harmless, but a little annoying that I had to burn excess fuel to pass him on a hill. A gift landed in my lap on a big hill – a semi luggin' along at about 50-55 and 4 cars stuck behind (including the ricer). A small straight stretch was coming with just enough passing zone for a modded 7.3L in a Superduty. It's time to brand that bull in the butt, turn it loose, and show the ricer you've actually been holding back and he's not “all that”. What's the soundtrack to this maneuver?

Aaron Tippin to ZZ Top – what select songs will you grab out of your whole audiophile to throw down on a lane loaded with lingerers? “Big Boy Toys” and “Big Ol' Truck”, while good for cruising, don't quite measure up when you heat up the iron. I'm slowly building my “Road Rage” album and I'm looking for ideas. I would imagine there are others out there who are always looking for another tune to augment their road music collection, you know... the stuff that keeps you from nodding off on the long haul. I have 320 songs so far, but I don't want to bore you with my tastes - so I'll just list a few to start the suggestion list:

KT Tunstall - “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree”
Rammstein - “Los”
Adam Ant - “Goody Two Shoes”

This may sound a bit cliche` But "I cant drive 55" by Sammy Hagar will usually convince me to streach out my right leg a bit. It just sounds better in the left lane.
However after driving commercialy for 12 years and suffering from an inherent case of road rage on a daily basis I took up listening to smooth jazz. It collectedly lowers my blood pressure. .........

Rammstein is awesome for some road rage. Listen to some of these

Rammstein- asche zu asche and feuer frei. Kinda helps if you understand what they are saying.
Disturbed- down with the sickness. Indestructible. Stricken

Tugly you wouldn't by chance speak any German?

Oh no you didn't.

"I Can't Drive 55" is NOT Van Halen. It's Sammy Hagar, the guy that ruined Van Halen. David Lee Roth is the only true frontman of Van Halen and he didn't sing no 55 song.

Sorry, I'm just a purist and Van Halen is my favorite band of all time. David Lee Roth years only.

Now, back to the OP.

"Shoot To Thrill" by AC/DC is always good when you're gonna burn somebody down.

Nice one with Nazareth.

If I'm dodging traffic on my commute, it's AC/DC's "If You Want Blood".

If I'm cruisin' down the highway then I like a little "Funk #49" by the James Gang.

Yes, I'm old.

Well for me there are many songs but my #1 is "Radar Love" by Golden Earing. I actually have been thrown in jail for doing a 125mph in 55mph zone as I was jamming out to "Radar Love"
Well since then I drive 55 Not Really !!

I hear yuh... I like Jazz as well, and Celtic. I have 8 Gig of room on my SD card and that's a whole lotta MP3s, so everything gets grouped by the adrenaline factor.

Disturbed: Oh, ah-ah-ah-ah? Uh. Uh. Rammstein has some hard-driving music. I was "initiated" with the movie "XXX" with Vin Diesel, and chose to get a couple of albums. "Du Hast" will make the foot feel heavy too. For those who prefer English - "Stripped" gets it done.

I'm reasonably good at reading papers in foreign languages and getting the gist of the article - but that's it for the Germanic languages.

Ingrid - "Tu es Foutu"
The Kinks - "What I like About You"
