My cousin (a mechanic) hooked up a kill switch to his fog light function on the headlights. He doesn't have foglights, so this was the perfect "hidden" location. I'm not sure what it disables though. I guess you could install some type of switch that disables the starter or one of the circuits from the fuse box but I have no ideas on where to "hide" the switch so noone would find it.

The best place I think to install a kill switch on a diesel, is on the fuel shut off solenoid. All that is needed is to splice into the wire on the solenoid and place the switch anywhere you want.

You can splice a switch in-line on one of the wires from the ignition switch. The right wire will disable the PCM and Fuel Pump Relays (later models w/ elec. fuel pump). I did this on my '91 F-150 and it worked great. The engine will still turn over, but will not start. I covered the wiring to switch with plastic loom and tape so that it looked like factory wiring. I have not looked at a PSD wiring diagram, but it should be done just as easy. I have considered doing this on my '01 PSD.

I've got so many switches in the cab now, that another one that was a kill switch wouldn't stand out much. I'd consider wiring a kill switch into the #9 fuse in the fuse box under the hood. It controls the pcm, so every time you flipped the switch, you'd be resetting the pcm.

One of the best methods for creating a kill switch is to use several of them in series. Take 4 double-pull double-throw switches and line them up. Get the ones where the "off" is in the center, and the switch toggles up and down from the off position. Wire them so that the 4 switches create a "combination code" Have many stray wires running from the switch to off behind the dash. Do the same for you positive and negative leads. Not all of the switches even need to be completly "alive" on the circuit.

If you confound the true wires with the "real" ones enough, then a thief will have to know the "correct" combination to start the truck. With 4 switches you looking at 81 possible combinations. Add another switch and now you make it 243 combinations.

As long as the wires are throughly confusing, and securly fastened behind the dash, then you've got a pretty secure "kill system" .

With the hi volt injector circuits in the injection system of a PSD,I can think of a REAL GOOD anti-theft circuit! But then I dont wana cause no truble! But you sure would not want to forget to disable it before starting it!

but i need something more specific, like what wire do i hook the switch up to..color code and location of where the wire is....i'm going to be doing this on tues day.... i like the idea of cutting the power to the injectors,

and yes Kt i know what your thinking of...... .....

hmmm multiable switch....hmmmm....that is worth more thinking about ....it would be like a electronic combination lock......

Chech out this link. I've been thinking about purchasing one of these units myself. Maybe somebody out there knows more about them.

That looks like a pretty intelligent idea. The cigarett coder would be the way to go, only drawback I see is remembering to take it with you each time. The frequency hopping FOB would be no different than a normal keyless entry FOB, and could probably be dupicated by a code grabber. But that's a pretty good idea for a kill system.

I have an electronic engineering company the does a lot of custom work for projects on my truck. It probably be really easy to mount a small 4 number key pad that triggers a similar relay with the right combination. I wonder what that would take??????

Kill switch is best done using your nuetral safety switch. : ) It is simple and does not tamper with anything that could potentially cause more problems then getting your truck stolen. Mine is ran off my nuetral saftey switch, of course a smart thief could bypass it by jumping it thru the silenoid. However it is still a good deterent, and extremly easy to wire and safe.

Good Luck

Jlower, I looked at your pictures in your gallery. Is that your settings for your pcm by the extra power source on the dash? What other modifications have you done?

if you dont want your truck stolen then just buy an alarm, the alarm system i got comes with an lcd pager that tells me when my alarm goes off and if my truck is broken into and the alarm is going off the truck will not turn over at all. my friend has a system alittle similar but you have to hit unlock on the pager everytime before it will start.

That's a computer I had custom built for me. It switches my Diesel Power Chip through it's four setting. It also controls my Powershot 2K propane system. The display lets me know how I'm configured and running. I have a version 2.0 that will also control the water/methanol system that should arrive soon in the mail.

I am an Auto Theft Detective, if they want it, they are going to take it. But, the best defense if a multi-layered approach. They make a device that attaches the brake pedal to the steering wheel, I have never recovered a stolen vehicle that was stolen in with this.

The most common way of getting your car stolen is 1. leaving it running, even just for a minute. 2. Getting your house burglarized and the keys stolen. 3. Someone making a key when you have your truck serviced.

I recovered 100+ stolen cars a year, one 01 psd. The lady that owned this, had her other car stolen 2 weeks before while it was warming up. the psd key was on the chain and they came back and got that truck later.
