2004 f150 AC
Now on to your question...I moved you over to this Forum, it should help to receive an answer a bit quicker.
Here's a thread I started last week. I'm hoping the leak they found is my problem, but the AC tech at my dealer did say something about bad orifice valves on a lot of the 04 150's. I've never read the complete TSB on the AC problem, but the orifice valve controls the amount of refrigerent that flows through the system. My leak was at the high side valve. They found that yesterday, but last week the system read normal on the gauges and wasn't doing much at the vents(56-58 degrees). I guess when the first tech put the gauge on that valve it started to leak last week. When they get the new valve and drain, pull a vacuum and recharge it he said he'll be able to tell if the orifice valve is working right. He also said that the system could of had some moisture in it. Pulling a vacuum on it before recharging it is the only way to get the moisture out of it. Moisture will freeze and clog at the orifice valve. Anyone noticing the vent temps floating up and down this could be ice forming in the system then melting and flowing again. Remember the actual refigerent temp is allot less than vent temp to be able to pull the air down in temp. Way below where water will freeze.
The tech told me...don't worry it will be blowing 38 or less when when I'm done with it..
