Easier to buy another truck with a/c! It's a tough job, as there are many conponents to add and the cost of these are usually not what the average guy would want to spend! It can be done, but you are looking at about a grand to do it!

I would suggest finding a doner truck for the task. I have a 1990 F250 that until recently had no air. I found a 1990 Bronco with air and bought it for $300. Body was shot. Had to buy a new dryer and a hose that cost me $120 altogether. New Orings and they are cheap. Oil and 134a , this brought the new parts up to about $150. Sold the rearends out of the Bronco for $200 and have a guy looking at the engine at $300 so might even come out ahead. The instalation wasn't that bad. If I would have kept at it I could have done it in a day.
Hope this helps and I can tell you that driving down the road in my 1990 F250 with it being 90 degrees and humid , with my windows up and coolin it , it sure was worth the trouble.
Rick
