[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Mar-02 AT 01:48 AM (EST)]Me?
Not at all ashamed.
Very early in life I adopted a plan to Help anyone who needs it.
It started before I was 6 shovelling sidewalks for Widows in our neighbourhood.

Being involved in Cubs/Scouts took it to a higher level.
Youth Church groups some more to it.
Volunteering at Youth Clubs.
And still being done for 3 decades since.

I re-cycle everything that is possible to re-cycle.

I try to treat everyone with respect & diginty.
But,I'm Human it's not always possible.

I show empathy when I can.

What really bothers ME is how "Greed" has evolved to what it is these days.

That's what I see most as being a problem in society.

You see , I've lived my whole life in a city that is known for being
"Friendliest City in Canada".

We have a community spirit here that is Un-matched anywhere.

I'm more ashamed of Politicians and Greedy people than I am of being human.

I have always felt the best thing I can do is to touch as many hearts in this world as possible,in an effort to leave the world a better place than when I appeared.

Dennis, We need more people like you in this world.

I have always been proud of the things I did in the past, cub scouts, boy scouts, firefighting, medical first responder and in a non official capacity working with many law enforcement agencies. I just wish that everyone could feel the personial rewards that I have felt from living a life like this. After saving a life or a helping someone who just needed directions when you go home and wind down at the end of the day you say to yourself damn I feel good for whatever it was that I did that day. The next morinig you get up and just hope you can help someone out again.

Is this world that bad? It is only as bad as we make it.

Go out today and do something for someone today, even if it is just holding the door for the next person passing through.

No I'm not ashamed of humanity or our world. It may not be perfect but we can all try to make it a better place to live.

You must have a bad case of the 'winter blues'. Get outdoors, go camping, take a drive in the forest. There is spectacular beauty out there just waiting to be appreciated. If you are still in school, you are likely surrounded by naysayers and doom-and-gloom types who dearly love to blame humankind for any and all imagined woes in the world. Now, go take that drive.

This one pretty much sums it up. Live fully, Live well, embrace the world with the knowledge that it will be as wide or as narrow as YOU will let it be.

If you want to opt out that is your choice. You don't give mother nature much credit and your knowledge of ecosystems is lamentable to say the least.

Only one planet my butt. There is at least 8 more in this solar system plus the moons. Let alone the rest of the galaxy.

Mother nature is tougher than you give her credit. Quit your whining and start seeing how well she is doing.

Time for a little reading on your part, you
don't have to beleive anything I say, but it
may get you pointed in the right direction for
researching my comments...

There are more trees in the US than ever...
The air quality is better now than 100 years ago...
There are less toxic chemicals being dumped into the
environment than 50 years ago...
People are living longer because of better healthcare,
I know that for a fact...
SUV's kill more people every year than handguns, usually
caused by inattentive operators...

Yeah, I understand what you are saying……sometimes I’ll read the paper, the news, whatever, and think “the human race sucks….we’re in trouble…etc” But then I think, “why do we (I) have to feel guilty about saving every little rodent or fish on the planet?” or “helping the weak or poor?” “why does anything have to change?” “Why can’t I just go get my gun” It would be so much easier.
I mean, if they were meant to be successful (survive), wouldn’t they be able to survive on their own…and at no cost or inconvenience to me? I do not know the answer and neither does anyone else here…. all they have are opinions, observations, and some even have references to websites or “witticisms” that support their opinions.
The “environment” is bigger than you and I and I wouldn’t fret about it because we’ll be dead long before any of this so-called “global climate changes” or “species extinction” has an effect on us. So don’t worry about it. Party on.
I hate liberals for asking the questions and conservatives for answering them.
Skippy

Got to like the people I am encountering here. Nothing like a well placed question to find out the quality of people I'm discussing with. Here's to future interaction.I love life and all that we have. I'm sure we'll get better at it as we go ahead.

Hey canzus couldn't be better said. Just remember everybody out there, the media in the world and your next neighbor, or your best friend makes everything twice as big as it should be only because less and less of some of those bad things are happening in the world today.

If it weren't for the media sensationalizing every incident, you wouldn't even know about most of the stuff that goes on in this world. Most of the bad things you see on the news take care of themselves and just do not matter in the big picture. Terrorism is a one example. If there were not for TV cameras everywhere, Israel would have taken care of Arafat years ago and we probrably would never have heard his name. I see being informed as being something different than being panicked by some reporter looking for ratings. Our new "problems" are simply the same old "problems" with new faces and names.

Right On Mil1ion Man, Somedays I want to express the same thoughts that you've conveyed on this post. I try in my own way to encourage and assist people on a daily basis. I'm glad to know that a lot of you MEN feel the same way. It don't show a sigh of weakness for a real man to have compassion for his Brother. I find myself backing up sometimes because I'm careful not to step on any toes. I'm a Christian and my daily prayer is that the Lord would reveal someone to me who He wants me to help. Even as I write this I feel like I'm going to make someone turn away from me. My beliefs are very similar to you guys. There's a spiritual man inside of every one of us, and when you get in touch with your inner self you'll know what I mean.I'm sure that a lot of you know what I'm saying.I don't think the world is wasting away, I see it improving. I spend probably 100 days a year in the trout streams here in N.C., and they just keep getting better. I'm very thankful for the rain we're geting too. To the guy that thinks the world is getting worse: Count your blessings Dude,(You won't have to look far to find them.) I hope I haven't offended anyone. You "GUYS" take care and be cool. I'm Outta here. DARBY
