6-digit odometer in 1992?

6-digit odometer in 1992?
Just found a 91 F-150 300 I-6 at a dealership, where they claim it only has 58k miles on it.
However, did 91 models only have a 5 digit mechanical odometer? If so, I have no way of knowing if this truck really has 158k or 258k miles, do I ...??

1992 & up trucks have 6 digit odometers. Before that, they were five. Kind of odd, as ford trucks usually last *well* over 100k.
Your best bet is to run a carfax report. It will show if the truck has even been titled as 'exceeds mechanical limits'. You may even ask to see the old title the dealership has - it might show it.

The 91s did only have a 5 digit number.
I highly doubt it has 58k miles, most likely 158k.
Easy signs are the corner of the brake pedal being warn off, worn seats, engine compression test/oil pressure test...checking wear items.
The only real way to know is by closely inspecting the condition of the vehicle.
