Question exhaust Manifold question

I have a 66 with a 352 and have tracked down some exhaust manifolds that the seller says will work. can anyone tell me if the following statement from the seller is correct:

set of Ford exhaust manifolds from a 360 with 108,000 original miles.* These came off of my late Father’s 71 SportCustom that has been babied it’s entire life.* I’ve been told they will fit the (FE?) 352, 360, 390, and 428 sized engines.

The left side manifold might not be identical to the one you wish to replace, even if it bears the same casting number. Some have a machined chamfer at the exit which accepts the doughnut that goes between the manifold and the exhaust pipe. Others, the '66 for example, are not chamfered because they mate to the heat riser valve: flat surface-gasket-flat surface. I am not sure in which year the change occurred, but I think engines with heated intake air don't use the heat riser valve.

Not sure if any help but following list is from the Hollander Exhange book. There may be the exeception and hopefully more knowledgeabe member can clarify.

1. 66 352 (R) Used on ser 100 thru 350

Ford tr. 65-67 352

Ford tr. 68-75 360 & 390

Ford tr. 76 360 & 390

2. 66 352 (L) Used on ser. 100 thru 350:

Ford tr. 66 thru 67 352

Ford tr. 73-74 360 & 390

Suggest cont. to search info, have found in working on these slicks there can be exceptions. Good luck

Yeah Dave, this is an exception. The manifold I attempted to use in the '66 came from my unmolested '74. I had the whole thing together before I realized that the '74 manifold would not seal to the '66 heat riser.

Chopper: Look real closely at your driver's side manifold and exhaust pipe.
Does there appear to be a 2" or so thick "spacer" between the manifold and the pipe? The spacer is a heat riser valve, and may have been modified, but if it is there, the 360 manifold won't mate to it - as the others have said.
It should have a wheel-like part on the outside, which turns a shaft going through the center of the valve.
If you have this, then you have the original '66 manifold.

The 360 manifold will bolt up to the motor just fine.
The '66 driver's side exhaust pipe is shorter by 2 inches or so, to compensate for the valve, so it won't be long enough to mate to the 360 manifold.

To use the later manifold on the '66, you must extend or replace the exhaust pipe.

I suggest you get down to Autozone or Advance Auto and get the 2 piece exhaust crossover pipes for a '73 - '76 F-150 woth 360 or 390, 2WB. You will need to get 2 pieces the left an right, and they will bolt right up to the manifolds. They'll fit your truck fine. You'll need to splice it into the existing system, though.
