hey y'all, im trading a friend of mine straight up for a 1983 Thunderbird with the 302 V8, ive owned 2 of the '82 models, and the 83 is a totally diffrent model, have any of y'all owned one of these or know much about them, im just wanting to learn a little more aboiut em, do they have computers in them or are they still pretty old school as far as electronics go?
83 may have a computer, it was the first year for ford's fuel injection. It used a throttle body, and TFI ignition. My advice is if this is the way it is setup get the system from a late 80s mustang, computer, intakes, and wiring harnesses.
I had a 94 and loved It.But I pulled the 3.8 v6 out and dropped in a 302,same year, but I got Rid of the throttle body injection that was on the 302 and just put a 2-barrel on the throttle body intake, and It Would Fly!!On the Highway in a flat out drag,it would Smoke a H.O. crown vic, every time(if you know what I mean). Here's a little trivia, you can tell every year of the Birds apart by the bird emblems on the hood and rear window post, they are different for EVERY year, all the way back to the 50's.
it woudlnt let me post earlier, but im trading my wife's best friend our 1995 Buick Century for the 'Bird. I cant wait to get it, i think 'Birds are the best cars in the world
there are a coupla good forums for 'Birds and Cougars, if ya want the link email me, as i don't know if posting links to other forums in here are frowned on by the mods...
