Oh man I hope you are right, cause I got a quote from the dealer and it was 83 bucks + the 8% the city gets.

EGR valve sensor - I'll try that one over at NAPA or Shuck's.

99 3.0, around 35k. It was reading 4.5-5 volts all the time.

Found that stupid thing

I finally located it, the auto stores around where I am know it as a DPFE, but the people behind the counter have to know where to look. EGR Control sensor is what they call it, but the books do call it a DPFE. Anyway, despite all the information that it probably is the EGR valve rather than the sensor, it turned out to be the sensor after all.

1996 2wd 2.3L Ranger.

Replaced at 160,000km.
