My wife's 97 Expedition with the 5.4 motor won't start. It did this once before while I was away, battery cable was replaced and it ran after that. This time it does same thing, has power to everything but won't turn over.
A bad IAC won't impact the operation of the starter. If you're turning the key and the motor isn't cranking, rule the IAC out. Ever replace the starter relay mounted on the passenger side of the firewall?
Thanks for the reply. I went under the Expy and had my son turn the key, there is a good spark at where the battery cable connects to the starter but no action by the starter itself.
Would the starter relay cause this to happen and would it be intermittent? How much does that cost to replace, any idea??
Thanks again. I currently have the extended warranty paperwork coming to me in the mail and this will be a good test to see what exactly it covers and if it was worth the cost or not.
Sounds like the connection is loose, you shouldn't get an arch at the connection unless its loose, that spark is supposed to be in the starter coming off the brushes. Check your connections at your starter, the cellnoind and the ground.
