Does anyone know how to disconnect the key door chimes?? It's hard to listen to music with the doors open when all I hear is the stupid dinger. I used to be able to reach under the dash, find the irritating thing and throw it away! Unfortunatley the one in a F150 is burried way up in the dash somewhere. I may be out of luck with finding it but I was hoping someone may have found a way.
Thanks
Welcome to my #1 pet peeve about my truck. I HATE that stupid chime. Unfortunately, in these newer truck the chime seems to be built into a GEM (General Electronic Module) that is attached to the back of the fuse block. This GEM happens to control several other important functions, so you can't just yank it out like the old chime modules.
When I want to leave the door open, I use a screw driver or a key to flip the latch mechanisim up so that it trips that microswitch, shutting the chime off.
