well i was in the ranger section the other day looking for info on my headlight conversion when i saw a supercharger topic. of course there went my ideas. what are the differences in the aero 3.0 and the ranger 3.0's? if its the same im gonna super charge the shorty. anyone know how to convert it to an electric fan? new body mods update also. shaved trim in front and rear bumpers, i just need to paint em to see how it turned out. also i taped off my tail lights and painted those. ill take pics when the bumpers are finished and post em to get your opinions. i think it looks pretty badass but you'll determine that for me.
If you can cram a supercharger into the engine compartment of your Aerostar, I think a lot of us would like to see how you do it. My impression is that there is just not enough room in there for either a Roots or centrifugal type blower.
ELECTRIC FAN mod completed!!! runs great! not extemely noticable but then again i havnt even drivin the thing since i got pulled over for expired tags a month ago. heres how i did it. i used 2 fans from a 91 eclipse and since they wont fit side by side and my a/c doesnt work anyways i took the condenser out and put one on the outside and the other on the inside but on the opposite end. i reversed the flow of the one on the front so it blows the same direction. heres the steps if your interested in the mod. take the intake tube off (duh) then i think the easiest and fastest way to get it done is drain the radiator and pull it out. then you can get the original fan a lot easier. now you can either test fit the fans and do some trimming or just do the same thing as me. or you can get a chain wrench to hold the pulley and the shaft that the fan is on is reversed threaded so take that off. now is a good time to check to see your belts and pulleys for any damage or ware. anyways, after that its pretty simple, i zip tied my fans onto the radiator with no problem. but if you can think of a better idea let me know. another suggestion is to take off the front grill and theres a little plastic thing on the pass side next to the headlight and it looks pointless so i took it out so it wont be as restrictive. after that then you just stick the radiator back in, connect, fill, then you can either get a thermo switch or you can splice it into the ignition or get a manual switch like i did. very simple mod i think. i havnt drivin it but down the street so im not sure how mpg are affected but im hoping its good. also, i shaved the rear trim on my bumper, i havnt painted it yet but it looks pretty smooth. as for the supercharger, im still looking into it but its just 1 step closer to getting done now. hope this helps some of you.
I had a 16 inch peller on mine for a little over a year but its to hot in Vegas for that. If I was too try again the first thing is go to a 2 core radiator which I did. Then I woud get 4 fans from a Kia Sephia which should cover my whole radiator. Im pretty sure this would work in Ohio with AC but Vegas might still be iffy and the cost would only be worth it if I got the fans cheap.
