Ok, so I go around bragging about how much I love my Diablo chip. Well, the other day I'm sitting there trying to power-brake my truck and it just bogs the truck down and sounds like it's fouling out, leaving me looking like a fool. This also goes back to this winter when I was having problems with the truck bogging down in the cold weather. It seems to me like the truck is running too rich with the chip in the 'on' position. If I turn it off, the truck will smoke 'em right up. I'm still getting that extra power at about 30 mph when I stomp on it. But it's getting kindof embarrassing when I hammer it at a red light and the truck just sits there for about 3 seconds before it decides to take off. I'll get my computer code and chip info and put it online later tonight and if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Do I need to change to a different plug than stock???

Sounds like you have a module with a cold-start chip on it. Superchips experienced this and so did Diablo. The problem has been fixed for the most part with both companies but occasionally a chip will show up that has this issue.
Did you get it from us? If so, we'll exchange it for you under warranty.
yes, i did get it from you about 6 or so months ago. i still have my invoice. what do you need from me besides the chip? Do you just re-program it or just completely replace the chip.
We completely replace the chip. Unfortunately, there's no way to know a chip is one of these (they test out perfectly fine) until the problem shows up. Give us a call on Monday and we'll swap it out. 770-918-8400.
I sent out my chip today. I will follow up on this forum and let everyone know how the story pans out. Looks good so far!!!
I tell ya, since I took that chip out though, my truck starts up and just sounds better overall just idling since that chip is out. All the bogging is gone now, so hopefully that replacement chip will make a world of difference.
OK, got my replacement chip last night. Number one: Very fast turnaround. I didn't expect it to get back so soon. Number two: No more bogging. First thing I tested was pulling out into the street and lighting em up. SHe didn't bog down like before and she just took right off. I pulled up to the stop sign and hammered it.......She took off like a bat out of hell, no bogging down like before. Seems like the problem has been fixed.
I know this particular problem isn't neccessarily associated with my chip, but my truck has been doing alot of spark-knocking around half to 3/4 throttle. This happened even while the chip was out of the truck. I'm wondering if maybe I should go to a different spark plug? I'm using 93 octane from Amoco, and I use it consistently. Any idea???
Knocking with Rangers is a common problem. Often its the EGR causing it, fixes are pretty simple, though that's not the only cause. If you do a search in the Ranger section of this site on "ping" or "spark knock" there are pages and pages of this topic! We had the problem with our 2000 Ranger and it was the EGR.
Thanks Ken. I really appreciate all the help and excellent service!!! P.S. I just bought a MAC cold air kit from you guys and that's working excellent at well. Thanks a bunch!!
Hey, Ken still having problems with my Diablo. I absolutely love the power, but at 1400 rpms, it drives me nuts. It jerks and surges or at high speeds it vibrates like my driveshaft is falling out. If I flip it into the off position, no problems, except for the noticable loss in power. Any ideas?
hey Phil, nice to be able to talk to you again....
He said to call and they would take care of me. I've called once, but I've been out of town, so if they tried to call back, I didn't get it. I'm going to try again..
