Well, E7SF- indicates it was originally used on an '87 Thunderbird. The suffix -XID or X1D I cant locate. I have some more reference material if I can find it......

OK, the DX3 is a 5.0 Mustang. Here's the link to excellent EFI info.

I have checked the fordfuelinj site to find out that it should be a mustang, I also called ford and the said thunderbird as well but that was all the info they had. so I guess it is a speed density computer, and possibly a ho motor for a supped up t-bird?

I can check with my Ford guy tomorrow and see what he says. Looks like a Ford dealer should be able to ID it.

cool that will be a huge help. Also see if he knows the difference in cams between a 87 ho mustang and a 86 grand marque 5.0. I already have all the ho top end but the cam is the last peice.

Completely different animal as a 5.0 HO's firing order is the same as a 351, as well as a different spec.

OK here is the story: I have run this 86 garnd marq motor for three years and it needs more power and better fuel econ, It has over 120,000 on it. I have been able to get some e7 heads, a ho intake from a stang, the throttle body and egr from a markvii ( the throttle body has a part number of 5.0sho on it), and the computer from the mark also, so i figure a 5.0ho ( i will try to find manifacturing date tommorow). what i want to do is put the new stuff on it and have the equivlent of a 87 mustang ho. What do you think and what do i need to do? This is in a non emission truck with shortie headers.

No further info on the EEC I guess. Was the Mark VII motor junk or what? It IS the same as a Stang 5.0 HO you know. If your computer came from the Mark it will be good to go for your conversion ... as I understand it. 88 up Marks are mass air.

The motor seem to be good, I was just 10 min late to finding it. I was searching thru the local pnp and heard yelling a row away. some guy found this motor before i could get it. The did leave to computer, intake (upper), throttle body and egr, but took the rest. Now i have everthing to do the swap but the cam. What do you know about cams for this swap? I have heard i cannot use a replacement cam due to piston valving (?). I think i have flat pistons in the 86 marquis motor.?

I read somewhere that i need to find a cam from a 86 up mustang or mark 7. and cannot go wiyh a ford motor sport or aftermarket cam due to flat top piston ( which i don't know if i have) mustang and ho pistons have valving top type (?) instead of flat tops i guess. I found this info on a town car 50 to ho site. and i am assuming i have the same 50 as a town car would have run in 86. Thoughts?
