with all due respect...
more than 3 visits and more than 30 days in the shop in the first year sounds like it's time for lemon law... not for posting on an enthusiasts site
Sorry JD. I have to somewhat disagree. Yes this an Enthusiast's site and everyone knows how strongly I support that. However, I think that it should be noted that you can be an Enthusiast and require significant long term assistance.
We have identified that he truely has serious issues. Your statement at least implies that it is time for him to go away. Sorry but I can't buy in to that, at at this stage of his issues. If our purpose here is to only be enthused then, as I have stated before, we should display a warning that 6.0 issues are not allowed.
Heck, site management can block the use of profane language surely they can block wording such as "problems", bad", "Blown", "Leaks", "Surge", etc...
If they can't come here for relief, release, and resolution, would you send them somewhere else? I prefer that they stay here so others can learn thru their pain.
If we let the few Trolls dictate our mission then the Trolls accomplish theirs.
All of this, of course, is just my honest opinion.
Our little bald headed buddy below clearly states that we are the best. And there is a reason for that.
No... you misread my intent... (or maybe I mistyped it )
(I thought it was intuitivly obvious what I typed )
I'm saying it's WELL PAST time to file and his time would be better spent FILING a lemon law case -
posting here will get him limited return on his investment...
At least in my two cases of buy-back / replacements years ago I spent most of my effort on the "deal" - but I did keep some apprissed of my progress...

Yes we bought a 04 fx4 6.0 a week ago. This past weekend we towed a 38 ft. fifthwheel at 11.000 lbs. We asked numerous people about a break in. They all told us that thier was no need for a break in before you tow. On the way up we noticed a couple hard shifts but really didnt think much of it, because of the weight of the trailer. We have not added anything to our truck it is still stock. We put 300 miles on it before we towed. On the way back from camping we were driving along and we noticed the tranny guage went to yellow within seconds with no warning. We pulled over and it was smoking and tranny fluid was leaking all over ther road. We burned up the tranny with only 450 miles on the truck. It is still in the shop as of Sunday. Not sure what the cause of this was. Some say the computer didnt talk to the tranny correctly which caused it to over work and blow. So we are right there with you. On our 2nd tranny at under 500 miles on truck... Also Go to www.thepowershop.com/wrnty.htm There is some interesting info on warranties and after market parts...

After an inspector from Ford was sent to inspect the truck, the warranty claim was denied because of my 4" cat-back exhaust, my 4" Pro-comp lift, and the fact that I had a pyrometer. They said these things caused the transmission to fail!!! Can you believe this s#@*??? They also implied that I had a programmer but they couldn't prove it. Now after spending almost 5k for the transmission, I'm stuck having to get my money back through a law suit, which is still going on under the lemon-law. My question is this is anyone else having such problems with their transmission? With all the available reman torqueshift transmissions out there, especially given that this transmission is now a little over 2 model years old, there has to be thers out there. I'm trying to find out so that I can document this for my attorney to show that ther is a problem...other than mine. Thanks for the help
No the manual states. No extensive break in required.. Who knows what extensive means. Doesnt state exact miles. But people from the dealer had actually told us that their was no break in..

Thanks for your concern into my problem jd. Yes I have looked into DSB, I have talked to the zone manager for FORD in my region, as well as two managers above him. I could have filed lemon-law but I just wanted my truck fixed, not replaced or refunded. I am a true Ford enthusiast. I own 3 other Fords, one of them being my Mustang that I race, which has been built mostly from FORD RACING parts. I am not here to bad mouth FORD about my truck. I am very curious if I was the only one with these issues or if there were others. Yes I have retained an attorney at this point, and the reason is this: I do not believe in any way that I should have had to pay for this last transmission that was put in. I simply want FORD to refund my cost of the transmission. If you think that is bad mouthing FORD, then I am sorry, because that is not my intent. Sorry that this post is so long.

The F250 SD Owners Guide and the 6.0 Supplement read:
Your vehicle does not need an extensive break-in. Try not to drive
continuously at the same speed for the first 1,600 km (1,000 miles) of
new vehicle operation. Vary your speed to allow parts to adjust
themselves to other parts.
You might want to check your trucks configuration against the trailer towing tables in the Driving Tips section. I would never go with "people told me...". I am sorry to hear you are having problems, but this is the first we have heard of tranny problems.
OK - went out to the parking lot and got my owner's manuel out of the truck. Page 5 under BREAKING IN YOUR VEHICLE says in part "Drive your new vehicle for at least 500 miles (800 kmn) before towing a trailer or snowplowing". Ford must put that in there for a reason - let us know if you have warranty problems.
OK we do not believe you are here to discredit Ford.......so less get on down the road and ...well I for one want to be kept updated as to your out come. This is a new twist to on a problem. I also understand exactly what you mean ...when you say, “all I want is my truck fixed.”
Tell us more about the Mustang, Bob also has one he races, apparently does not work very well because every time he stands on the gas the front end leaves the ground...you would think he could get that fixed under warranty.
i am very interested in what went wrong with your tranmission because i have a 2004 f250 psd with 10500 miles and it is in need of a new trans which they do not want to cover. and i dont know what to do. any help would be great.
