Hi everybody, i'm not new here, but i rarely post a thread but anyway. My steering wheel vibrates/shakes evertime i step on the brakes to slow the beast down. Some people tell me i need a rebalancing of the tires, but if that were true it would shake all the time instead of just when i step on the brakes wouldn't it? Others also tell me it's because of the weight the truck and the front brakes need to work harder, but i don't buy that either. My truck is a 2004 F-150 (obiously ) Lariat with almost 16,000 miles on it.
And also, I know this is an F-150 forum but here goes anyway. I have a 2002 Explorer XLT and when ever i go over bumb, pothole or something like that, the front shocks start to make noises, like a squealing noise, like if it needed to be greased or something, and it's only the front ones that make the noise, not the back ones which i find weird.
Well I appriciate your help in advance, and also, I love my F-150 now that's broken in even more than the first day i got it. This thing gets up and goes now, and feels a hell of a lot lighter. Hell, now it even burns rubber on dry pavement. Well thanks in advance.
My rotors warped at 5000 miles. The tires were never dismounted, hit a big bump or hole and I don't abuse my breaks either. Just get the rotors turned.
for the explorer it is your front end stablizer bar end link bushings. Ford knows about this and will replace them or if you want to go with a set from advanced auto or auto zone they are only about 10 bucks each and will last longer
It's not the end links making the noise, It's the bushings that attach the bar to the frame. They have a silicone grease that keeps them quiet but over time it works it's way out and as the bar moves it makes noise. If your Explorer is still under 3/36, it won't cost you anything.
