Clutch Bleeding Info!
1. I highly recommend changing out the slave and master at the same time.
2. Utilize the hole in the bellhousing(big rubber cover on it)to determine how far your slave cylinder is moving. It should be moving towards the flywheel 1 inch!
3.Get 5 feet of vacuum hose at Auto Zone that will fit very snugly on the bleeder valve of the slave cylinder and run the other end to the clutch reservoir.(be sure to put the 8mm box end wrench on the bleeder valve before the hose)
4. Open the bleeder valve with the hose connected and pump the pedal until there are no more air bubbles coming out of the hose.(the end in the reservoir)
5. During this time, make sure your reservoir does not run out of brake fluid.
6. Now you need an assistant to depress the pedal while you tighten the bleeder valve. Have your asst. pump the pedal 15 times and on the 15th time have them hold the pedal down while you open, and then close the bleeder valve.
7. Do this 3 times. Your slave cylinder may or may not be moving at this time but dont worry.(either way it won't be moving enough)
8. Have your asst. hold the pedal down while you open the bleeder valve and leave it open while he/she pumps the pedal 50 times relatively fast. You will hear fluid gushing through the hydraulic sytem. On the 50th pump have them hold the pedal down while you tighten the bleeder back up. This is what's flushing the air out of your system.
9.Check the movement of your slave cylinder at this time. Pump 15 times, hold, loosen and tighten the bleeder.
10.At this point, you should be able to do the 50 pump thing with the valve open and on the 50th pump have them hold the pedal down and tighten the bleeder valve. Do this as many times as it takes to get your clutch to properly disengage.
Just remember to be patient with the Ranger clutch. This process takes about 30 minutes or so, so be patient with it and you will get it. Just don't let the fluid run out and you'll be fine. Feel free to e-mail me @ Fleezbyte@earthlink.net if you have any questions. I'll even talk you through it over a phone if you'd like! Later & good luck!!!
