I have a 76 f 150 2wd w/ a 428, my problem is that my corba valve covers won't fit with the stock booster, is there another booster that will fit.
thanks
You can use an F350 booster, it's got a smaller diameter. Right now I'm trying to find out the exact year range that is compatible with these trucks but I know boosters from similar year F350's will work, you'll have to use a new master cylinder though.
I have a 9" diameter booster. It is the stock one for a 74 with dual piston calipers and no cruise. What diameter is yours Ivan? I know you asked about boosters the other day
I have a 73 f-100 with a 360. Did disc brake conv. fron a 78 f150 (both 4x4) but the disc booster is larger in diameter, to overcome this there is a braket behind the booster that when mounted, brings the booster up and away from the valve covers, and closer to the hood. This was factory on the 78 f150.
Ted, my booster is about 11.5" in diamter. This is the size that was generally in the F150's and F250's. The F350's used the smaller diameter booster which was thicker (front to back). I know the smaller F350 booster can be swapped in but don't know exactly what years will fit.
I've attached a picture of Pro's truck below. He's upgraded to the F350 booster. You'll see how much smaller it is than the regular boosters.
That is the same booster that was stock in mine. Either that, or the PO put it in, and the parts store sells it as a 250 booster too. Either way, if that is the 350 booster, you need to make sure you have the older firewall brackets for the older booster with the long pedal rod, or get the newer one that fits to the toggle linkage going thru the firewall.
Is there any differance in the boosters besides size? I have a new cab for my truck off a 150 ranger, it is going on an f250 hi boy and the boosters are different. Am I going to have problems with my dual piston brakes?
Yeah, the 150 booster won't hardly run the 250 MC. My booster was bad, so I took the one off my 150 parts truck, and what a thrill driving it the first time was. No power hardly. It was like manual brakes. You need the 250 booster. They aren't hard to swap.
