I need a tuner for Slik's 2002 PSD.. it tows a 9,500 lb Airstream, and a 14,000 lb gooseneck with equipment on it. I have looked at the two offerings in MotorHaven, and can't figure out which would be better for the truck in those applications.
Either tuner will do the job.... however with those kind of loads the tuner alone isn't going to be enough. Diablo's latest revision is great and the Superchips has always been pretty good (though not as powerful as the Diablo). You'll need an EGT gauge at the very least and I recommend a larger exhaust as well. You'll need to run either the Diablo or Superchips in the lowest settings. Or, a multi-program chip would make a great fit. Keep it in the high position and switch it down on the fly if you see high exhaust temps.
Call and ask for me personally. I'll make sure you're taken care of and will give you a Club FTE discount. Let them know who you are so they know its okay to interrupt anything I'm doing.
I wish I had seen your post earlier, Ken.. Sarah bought the Predator tuner online, half an hour ago.. Thank you anyway.. It is really nice to be offered such personal attention.
We both await the arrival of the Predator with bated breath.. (if it is shipped UPS or FEDEX, the address she entered is correct.. If it is shipped by US Mail, it needs a different address. )
Thanks Theo. You should have it now. When it comes time for you to make more mods I'll make sure you're taken care of with your purchase history in mind. Sorry we missed each other posting, timing with forums stinks sometimes.
The Predator arrived!!
Theo installed it, as soon as we got it out of the box, and I took it for a try.
The difference is really noticable, and we didn't put the high gain tunes in - seeing as how we tow a lot. Just for now, we have the economy tune (60hp) in, and it blows a lot of smoke, scrubs the tires, and moves fast.
That is a great improvement, and I am looking forward to the exhaust mod soon. We will be putting guages on soon too.
The last trip I took I was getting nearly 20mpg with the truck, it should be interesting to see what I get with the tuner....
I think I have got the mod bug, why didn't anyone warn me it was contagious!
