Engine Surges, Gauges Jump...

I've twice experienced a weird sensation in my truck. When stopped, the engine will suddenly surge up to ~2000 rpms or so, and the gauges will jump (i.e. when stopped, speedo will jump to 25-30mph). It only does it when stopped or going very slowly. I was thinking bad battery for the gauges, but the battery tests fine, starts great, etc. I was thinking maybe the IAC valve for the surge, but why the gauge jump, then? Any ideas?

Forgot to mention...47,004.3 miles. IAC valve time?

If not now, you're getting mightly close. When my IAC valve went, my truck wouldn't idle right at start-up. Once it was warm, the thing was fine.

My bet would be on something other than the IAC valve, possibly a dying gem????

Usually when a charging system/battery causes the Guages to reset in an HEC module they reset all the way over, and its all the guages. That would be on 99 and up.
