CPS or ICP sensor?

Well having a small issue with the truck. I've always had alittle surge at idle, I figured it was just the ICP sensor due to me messing with it putting the 10k mod in. Well it would get worse when it was cold out (on a cool night the idle would jump more). Wel in the past few days its gotten real bad and surges while driving also, enough to feel it. It all started the other day when i was driving and let off the throttle to slow down then got back on the throttle and it sounded like the engine shut off for a second then started back up (tach didn't have an issue). Now the idle will surge just alittle like always but then it will jump around too, drops down to 500rpm and jump to probably 700-800 rpm, it will do this a few times then go back to little surges. Going down the road though its surging all the time.

No CEL, so I'm getting mixed reviews. I'm thinking the CPS though.

Check for trouble codes. There are many that will not set the check engine light. I never see a check engine light, but will find codes stored when I check for them. They are, for me,usually mod related that show up, such as- high ICP pressure, IAH circuit problem. The accelerator pedal assembly switches can also cause some of the same problems you mentioned.

I cleaned the screen that comes off the fuel bowl yesterday because it was pretty gunked up and as i was messing with that i noticed the front clip in the driver side cylinder head was somewhat loose (i replaced this one before), I plugged it in all the way started the truck drove it around the block and it didnt do it. I'll have to drive it farther to get it warm and see what happens.

Well I'm pretty sure I do need a ICP sensor anyway because it still has that slight surge at idle but it doesn't do it driving anymore. I messed up the little prongs in the ICP sensor pretty bad when i put the 10k on way back, i just bent them back until it ran fairly smooth.

I've seen them sell fairly cheap on ebay btw, i think when i called the international dealer it was 120 new

yep it did work, it idles alittle funny like i said.

And yea the injector harness plug. I had replaced it along with one of the pins and it came undone alittle, probably was sending a weak signal so that probably caused the surge...i would think.

I'm out of the terms for the diesels, been so busy working on my car that I forgot all the terms for the truck haha.

I got a replacement ICP sensor for my truck, and it fixed my idle and rough running issues. I guess it's been going for some time - the truck runs better now than it has in a LONG time.

Very interesting. I can't help but wonder if all the trucks that have the morning romps would benefit from this.

Well it started acting up again so the cps must not of been it. But atleast i have a spare.

I tried finding a icp in the boneyard yesterday while there looking for car parts but no luck I figured it be cheaper that way to just try it out.

Looks like I'll be buying an icp sensor today.

I replaced my CPS @ 80K with only a hint of a warning before it went south. Shortly after starting, I was driving and the truck had a slight stumble...about 10 minutes later it died and that was it! Fortunately I was near a Ford Dealership and had to lay down $211 to get moving again. I now carry a new spare I purchased on eBay for $75

Are you putting a 10k resistor on ICP Signal ?

Search for 10k mod you'll be reading for hours. Basicly yes you put the resistor in the wiring of the ICP sensor and it makes the injectors hit harder thinking the pressure is low. I actually have a 5.6k in mine since a 10k didn't do much, lower number more power it gives.

Still waiting for the ICP sensor to get here, the truck is getting worse now that i don't want to drive it. So i'm cracking out the slow10 until i fix the truck.
