Reading through the post i have seen many post about noises and i understand that it is hard to figure out what it is without actually hearing it but i was hoping someone might atleast be able to point me in the right direction. I have 02 F150 4.6L and have noticed a noise when i accelerate and can hear it even more when i am next to a wall or barrier when driving.
It is a clicking noise but nothing like a lifter tapping or anything metal it has
air sound like a fast cha-cha-cha-cha and seems to be coming from the front of the vehicle. To me (who has no piston engine knowlege) it sounds to be exhaust related but what do i know. Is this normal or should i get it checked out while i still have 4 months on the warrenty.
( i have only owned the truck for 3 weeks so its not like something just started making the noise)
Any help will be great.
look closely for a crack in one of the exhaust manifolds. it kind of sounds like what your describing. ever heard an old car or truck with a rotted out muffler accelerate? it gets louder upon accelration. look very close, even crawl under and look on the bottom side of ea. manifold, use a flashlite. A crack will emit a sharper almost clicking type sound like you mentioned, plus have an echoing type sound next to a wall. would almost bet on it...hope to be of some help! ...paul...
