Screw it man! Just get some insurence and forgetaboutit! I can see you now getting out of that truck and taking 20+ minutes to get everything wired and clamped and welded up before going in the house. THAT will get old in a hurry!

They got one of my Mustangs in April. My SC Mustang sits in the garage (the only true way to keep it). As far as my other vehicles............. I have insurance, If they want it, I know they will get it one way or another.

i dont even lock my truck(unless my guitar is in it!)
my secret? drive an old truck that looks like an old truck. i have a new everything underneath but the body is rode hard and put away wet(no rust though!)
also, i drive a four speed manual and they dont make very good getaway cars if the theif can even drive it.

I really wish I lived in a state where you can shoot people that are stealing from you, night or day.
Barring that, a friend of mine sent me a link to a web site that detailed how to make your own kill switch. The idea is that you take a magnet-actuated relay and wire it inline with the hot wire from the ignition. Mount the relay in a place *near* the ignition, in a place where swiping your key ring (which has a magnet on it) doesn't look conspicuous, but where a thief wouldn't. Obviously, it also has to be mounted under something so you can't see it.
That was several years ago, and I don't have the link anymore.
If anyone REALLY wants your ride, they're going to get it. So thinking of ways to prevent somebody with a flatbed from stealing your car isn't a good way to spend your time.

this has been a very good thread,
and yes, if a pro wants your truck they will get it....
but to keep the crack heads and street punks from taking it.... the whole idea is to delay them or hopefully they will move on .....or get caught in the act...

As a matter of fact, it is against the law in England to defend one's self, and anything used for that purpose is considered a weapon (eg. knife, stick, rock, etc.).
