i am looking to put dual t-cases into my 85' F-150, but nobody has been able to help me so far. so can anyone please get me started on how to do this, like what am i going to do w/ the out-put shaft on the first t-case and how to join the two together, all the help would be nice.
do a search on np205/np203 doublers! that is prolly the way you will wanna go! i wish i could do that but dam it's expensive! basically you get a np203 and seprate it into 2 parts....the gear box and the front output. you keep the gear box and bolt it to the tranny! then you have to get the adapter ($$$$) that goes b/t the 203 gear box and np205 t-case! then you bolt up the np205 behind the 203. and then of course the driveshaft!
i have looked into doing it only a minimal amount since i found out the adapter cost as much as the 2 t-cases combined! go to pirate and do a search there....a lot of ppl have done it there
The adapters aren't really all that expensive, $500 over on Pirate. I've seen them as high as $1200 but why pay more than you have to? http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146813 With this kit the 203 gear box will bolt right up to the 205 input. I think you need to fab your own shifters but that should be simple enough.
just guessing you currently have a auto and your wanting lower gears off road.
203/205 doubler is very nice as well as twin sticking the 205. I got my 203 box delevered to my place for around $100 including the cost of the 203. Already had the 205 in my 78. $450 plus shipping on the adapter and shaft. I replaced all the seals in the 203 and 205. you need to cut and fab the tranny cross member because the front drive shaft will now hit the cross member. Fab up some shifters. Now for me to fit it under the bronco the 205 was hitting the body alot. I ended up trimming alot of the stuff out of the way with a plasma cutter. If I was to do it again I would have put in a 1 inch body lift to fit everything better.
Jopey, any small chance you have pictures of your shifters as they attach to the t-case? I've been wondering about this, looks like it would be tough to keep the twin stick option as tight as space is under there. My only other concern with dual cases would be losing some more power through another set of gears but I may do it anyway.
