93 4.0 AWD Aerostar ignition wires

Put a new set on my Aerostar today after 118,000 miles. No problem with the originals but they were do for a change out. Bought a set from O'Reillys (house brand )with life time waranty. When intalling them, the tabs to open the clips broke & they just did not snap on like they should. Took them off and back to the store. For $15.00 more ordered the Ford Motor craft with one year waranty. As it was 3 days till they came in I had to put the old wire back on. Not a fun job with the Aerostar. About 1.5 hours the first time of changing the wires out. So 3 hours wasted effort. The Motor Craft ones snapped right on, no problem. The moral of the story is stay with Motor Craft for the Aerostar plug wires, the others are inferior quality.

I replaced my 3.0L plug wires with a set of Borg-Warner's custom made for the Aerostar. I also agree with avoiding the cheaper universal sets that require installation of the clips and boots regardless of brand. The plug wire replacment sure is a PITA on the Aerostar, no question about that, especially if you make sure they are routed correctly through all the plastic factory clips.
I replaced the plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, PCV valve, air filter and gas filter and it took about six hours. The next day I changed the automatic trans fluid and filter. I was sore for two days from all the crawling around in and out of the van.

Ditto, experience with supposedly "lifetime" replacement set. Connectors were junk and broke off trying to install. A second, Bosch set uses same connectors as Motorcraft and are well made.

I do not have a good drawing or picture for a 92 ignition wiring. The drawing I had was even inaccurate in the book and I had to change the drawing. Is yours a 92 4.0 AWD ? Maybe someone with a 92 can help you. Not sure if a 92 & 93 are wired the same.
