86 F350 Power steering

My power steering gets hard to turn at low speed or at parking lot speeds. This is a inconstant problem. I have replaced the pump 3 times and flushed the system each time. The first 2 pumps were NAPA and the last one is a Motor Craft. The steering box is original and was cleaned and resealed four years ago. No leaks anywhere. This problem comes back after about 100 miles. Is it time for a new steering box?
Thanks Rodger

Yes !

Cleaning and seals do not repair steering box. Good luck with the rebuilt job...I have heard red head is good but expensive.

I got a rebuilt box from one of the local stores and it is good. But they are probably hit or miss like everything else.

We have had several people on here have problems with their u-joints out at the ends of the front axle causing steering problems. It turned out one of the joints was frozen and caused problems with the steering.

Thanks for the reply's. All frontend components have been replaced. It is 2 wheel drive. I am going with a Redhead unit. I will post results when completed and tested.

I just put a redhead box in my truck. Drives like a new truck. They are in my hometown, so I just drove to their location and bought one

Most likely a dumb question [do not mean to offend], but is the drive belt properly tightened?

Belts are new and are adjusted properly. Just about impossible to get a matched set of belts as in the past.
Thanks Rodger

I can get you the numbers to GOOD belts dirt cheap. All I need to know is make, model, engine, if it has a/c, etc. I buy my belts for less than $10 a piece and they're Goodyear Gatorback belts. Best belts I've ever used. They grip like crazy and never make a peep, and last a long time.

Sorry for the long time in updating on the power steering problem. Changed to a Red Head box. I will follow up with details on install.
Thanks Rodger
