I have a 89 2.9 The problem is that I have to realy slip the clutch when I start off,the truck will die if I dont. When It does die and I try to restart it ,it turns over like the timming is way to the advance side.
I have run a code test and only get a 67 code. That is because I did not hook up the safty switch on the clutch pedal when I did the tranny swap.I swaped the computer from the tranny doner BII{some year and engine}.
On the timming test {KOER} the timming will not go back to normal. The trucks runs fine and I have no spark knock also the gas malage is about 20mpg.
Is this a computer or a distribater problem?
Jeff
PS The bais timing is set to specks with the sprut{spelling} out.
I don't have all the manuals with me, so I'm not sure what circuit test to run. Hopefully Ken will have it. Out of curiosity, what does the KOER timing advance test yield? Erratic timing? or is it something other than 30 +/- 3 BTDC?
You really should run the KOER timing if your getting a KOEO code. Doing a normal timing test.... Is the base timing set to 10-12' without the spout? Does it go back to 20-30' when the spout is reconnected?
Baise timing is 10*with out the spout,20* with thw spout.when I run the koer timing test advanse to 20* and stays there till I turn the truck off,its as if the timming is staying advance.
Ken00 I redid the koer timing test 28* advance tining and it didnt hang this time .I thing its in the distribter,I think its sticking some times{dont they have a advance plate in them?} If so is there some way to oil it spray, ect.?Im not real good with these dist.so any advice will be apershated.
Jeff
Thanks Ken00.I'll swap thw computer .I got the one that was in the truck when it had an auto tranny in it.1 question, will I get any codes with it because I have a manual tranny now{not showing any shifts}??
I changed the computer and WOW!!!! what a diffrence!!! No nore funny idle, pulls great off the line and just sounds like its running better.
Thanks Kenn00
