Question lock mechanism

I have a 1986 Bronco II. I don't know much about cars, so please bare with me and my lingo. The locks on the back hitch aren't working. I don't think it has anything to do with the power locks, it seems to be the actual lock. On one side the lock (claw looking thing) won't open and close properly and on the other side the trunk door won't even close all the way. It like half way locks down. I think I might need to replace the two actual locks. I don't know. I am at a loss and can't really afford to take it to a mechanic right now.
Thank you.

look on either side were "claw " grabs on to when door is closed. there should be a plastic sleeve on it. if not the claw will not close properly.
