I got a $20 credit at summit for my first order! I set out to find what i can spend it on and found what i think i want, but can't decide on a brand. I think i want a throttle body spacer. Does anyone have experience with them on a bronc? The brands i have to choose from are Airaid, Powerdyne, and Motorvation. The first two are $100 and the third is $80. Are the first two worth the extra $? How much performance and mileage should i expect?
I havent run one on a bronco, but I did on an F150. Not only did it provide no power gains, but it provided this annoying air whistle at certain cruising rpms. Take that however you want. You might also want to use the search function. They have been brought up before.
It depends how you may take it. I have indeed purchased one (motorvator) and have noticed that even if you have no gain on the lower rpm range you still have better response on the highway per say. If you tow a lot and do it on the highway you will notice a difference but otherwise, do not waste your money...I did not ice an increase in mileage on 93 octane...I get about 18-21 highway and 15 on backroads in my 94 bronco with a 5.0.
Well, i don't drive on the highway much, and don't tow anything. But i would like an increase on MPG's. What would i get out of my 5.8 with regular unleaded?
Not quite sure...But I only noticed the increase on the highway driving side. My backroads mileage did not change. If you drive the posted limit and do not slam the peddle to the floor I would not purchase the spacer.
Well, I do have one on my '95 5.0 Bronco 5-speed. IMO, when combined with your total intake and exhaust system, it does make a worthwhile difference. The whistle problem mentioned was solved by throwing out the K&N filter charger system (sucks engine hot air anyway), and going back to the stock box with K&N insert with 4" cold air through the front fender well. (No it does not get wet either, just pull out at box if going into deep water). A well tuned Jet chip and a set of JBA headers with Gibson exhaust doesn't hurt either.... (Front cat cleaned out and hipo cat in rear).
