Has anyone converted to a hanging pedal for the brakes using a transplanted unit? I know everthing seems to be Ranger,Ranger oh and yeah Ranger. BUT I have been looking at one in an early 90's unit. The pedal assembly does not support the column or connect to it and only holds the pedal/Booster/Cylinder. Its also mounted on a flat panel(mmmmmhhh) anyway I will probably start the process this week just didn't know if anyone had or can prevent any pittfalls
I made my own hanging pedal with the booster and the master cylinder tucked up behind the dash. Have a look in my gallery of pictures of my '40 Pickup.
I took an assembly out of an aerostar and put it in my '52 for a while. It almost bolted right up to the firewall though the top holes are about 1/2 and inch back. It didn't flex the fire wall too bad from the area that the bracket covered, but it is enough to make most guys fuss. That could be fixed by a simple brace using 2 of the bolt holes on the aero's bracket to the dash. The assembly is mouted on a magnesium bracket and this did something strange to my speedo cable (looks melted) where they touched. There's one idea. Good luck!
You ever see a real magnesium wheel get a flat tire ? One hell of a light show going on there, just like the fourth of July. Bracket must have been grounding to something.
