Can anyone tell me were i can buy a weld in brake pedal bracket with the pedal that mounts in the stock location. My frame is boxed thats why i need a weld in type. I was going to go with a hanging pedal assembly but i really like look of the pedal coming through the floor.
I used a firewall mounted pedal assembly on my 48. Having had under floor master cylinders and brake pedals in the past be prepared for...
1. Hot air coming into the cab around where the pedal goes through the floor.
2. More expensive parts including the pedal assembly and an under the floor master cylinder and possibly booster.
3. Master cylinder harder to access and maintain.
4. Interference with exhaust pipes and/or transmission shift linkage
5. Heat from exhaust heating up the brake master cylinder.
6. Problems with fluid draining back to the master cylinder since it is mounted lower than the front calipers (assuming disc brakes) requiring special inline residual valves.
IMHO, that's a lot to contend with just to have the look of a pedal coming through the floor...
I don't know of any weld in kits that would fit right in with a boxed frame. Without seeing the work you've done, it's hard to tell. You could alter this bolt-in kit pretty easy to weld it in. It usually bolts to the frame in the stock location, but depending on what you did around that area, it might work out by cutting a few of the brackets shorter to make the pedals end up in the right place.
It's a great kit at a great price.
