quoted from that page-- "Flow Tech’s unique bypass design enables you to remove a plate at the rear of the muffler for straight through flow. High flow, low restriction three pass tube design controls sound in street configuration. Ribbed, fully welded 16-gauge steel case with no fiberglass or seams to blow out. "
wouldnt uncapping be the same as having no muffler? or would the muffler still add a v8 rumble to the exhaust?? I bring this up because on my ehaust i have no muffler as it is, it is pretty loud but with no rumble just like a ricer, but deeper sounding
I think the muffler is like that just to be more versitile than the rest of the competition. Uncapped is a straight through LOUD design, but you may not want to be that loud all the time. So then you cap it, and you can drive around with a quieter ride until the urge hits you again.
that sounds awesome, my buddy has a ricer (87 rx-7) and hes got a little tool to adjust the loudness, trust me though i would keep it uncapped all the time, i love loudness!!!! especially when you need it muhhaha, and it also saves lives
I would still go with the Flowmaster 40 Delta, it's best on the 4.2L! When you stated "They also all said the single would give me more performance" is that meaning the single in single out setup??
Yes, they said the true single will yield better performance than a single in dual out.
Here's the deal on performance. I don't think either is better than the other, but they do differ from one another. I think true duals gives you better high end power, and I think a SISO will give you (or at least maintain) your torque off the line. I think true duals drops your peak torque down low. That's the difference, BUT if you get a chip or something...you get all that torque back. My .02
Could ya'll answer this for me, would a "origional" flowmaster 40 sound good on a 4.2? Found a killer deal on Ebay that is the "origional 40s", not the deltas, and I don't think they are the super 40s, I think it is kinda inbetween isn't it? Think it would sound good on my 4.2 V6 F150?
Let's put it this way, It shouldn't sound bad at all...it will probably sound good since it is Flowmaster. All i have heard around here is that 40 series flowmasters are top of the line for the 4.2..
Just go buy a coca~cola in a can...drink it up. Then cut the ends out and weld it to your pipe. Then get 3 other cokes and do the same thing...one welded on to the next. That will give you around 30 hp garaunteed or your money back.
