Could you please research the build date and proposed delivery date for this Vin# 1FTSX20Y95EA60777. The reason I am asking is that my dealer has never given me anything in writting regarding the above information, only verbal.
He stated last week my truck was going to be built this week. After checking today with VOPC using the above Vin #, they are stating a build date of next week.
Is my dealer playing games with me and why is he not showing me a print out, lets say from CONCEPS?
Should I not have a hard copy available from the dealer giving me this information?
As you can see, my trust factor is going down hill fast.
Unfortunately, I have no way of accessing another dealer's order bank. As for the VOPC, I've never used it, because of the on-line access I have to Ford. I do know this: VOPC runs behind a bit, so it may have orginally been scheduled to be built next week, but it got moved up to this week for whatever reason. It would be very unusual for a dealer to give you a hard copy showing build dates, but I can't see a legitimate reason for not showing you a status report. Some dealers are actually afraid of showing you the report for fear you'll get angry over any delay, causing you to cancel the order and go elsewhere. It's a weird business I work in........
Dave: atleast you have a vin # ! Back in May I began to communicate with a dealer to order a KR '05. A week after Ford is taking orders , I have to call up the dealer ( should have been a sign ) to start the order. We meet the next day to finalize order and leave deposit. Don't ask me how, but I end up with only a check receipt and no actual signed contract and quoted price. After dozens of phone calls, I discover the salesman was actually moving and no longer working for that dealer, but promised to take care of it as soon as he could get into the showroom ? I pressed him that I wanted to see my specific order before it went through to verify details. Then he tells me that I already have an order # . Some more shaky phone calls and I am smelling a rat....I am unable to reach the dealer/owner and request the manager . He is immediately arrogant/abrupt....cutting me off with " my truck will be delivered in two weeks " . I am stunned but thrilled...which was his intent. Two weeks arrives...no truck...more rudeness...remark there's been a " delay " . There's more to all this, but I'm already taking too much space. I decide the only explanation is that they plan to drag me out to actual delivery ....show me the truck of my dreams....and imagine that they can inflate my original great price off the map and I'll make their dreams....because remember...I had nothing in writing . So I demanded my deposit and had to start all over with another dealer . They even tried to threaten me that it was a special order and I HAD to take the truck ....ha....not without a contract ! They threw my money back at me like a spoiled brat. Now , after several weeks, I still have no order number/date , etc. Altho this dealer hasn't actually done anything to cause distrust, I'm so burned that I doubt everything they say. You would think, for this kind of money, they'd be thrilled I walked in the door ?? Mulelady
It amazes me how the auto industry works. You would think that in todays market situation, they would be working hard to form a good customer relationship, considering the cost of the goods they are selling. I have been a business owner for over 40 years, and my success has been due to putting my clients as #1, building a lasting relationship and providing positive customer service. I have never seen a business succeed that puts themshelf ahead, or tries to manipulate the customer to only service their own needs and motives. This industry needs to learn that there is nothing wrong with being up front and honest and then everyone becomes a winner.
It would be interesting to figure out how many consumers purchase a vehicle, not because of the brand or model, but because of the trust and relationship they have formed with a certain dealer, even though that brand of vehicle is not their first choice. Enough-enough!!!! Mulelady, hope you get all your problems straighten out and utimately become a happy Ford owner.
