Hello,
I've searched the site to find out how o get the diagnostic code out of the computer on my 2000 RANGER but can't seem to find it. Please point me in the right direction. I don't even know where the computer is.
Thanks,
GH
Go to auto zone and they will read them for free. you have to have a code reader to get the OBD II codes (95-04) The reader plugs in under the dash right beside the hood release.
I'm 100 miles from an auto zone. Is there really no way to read them manually?
Thanks,
GH
Call some other auto parts stores around town and ask them if they will read your codes. Pep Boys, Advance Auto, and some other places will also do it (in most areas).
Make sure your lighter works in truck mine didn't and never knew why the diagnostic thing didn't work found out at autozone fuse was blown. But the thing is right under the steering wheel on my 2000 4X2 just don't do firestone told me they charge 75$ to check.
$75....from Firestone, wow. Another $25 and you can buy your own reader. I don't have the whole story but apparently here in Kali, some repair shops sued Autozone about checking codes.
