I've had PowerJokes since they came out in 94-1/2. I havn't had anything but PJD's and I for the life of me, cannot keep up with a stock Cummins powered Dodge. Hence "PowerJoke"
Sounds like a troll...
Then something was wrong with your engine and/or the Dodge owner was lying about his truck being stock. I have seen a stock PowerStroke go up against several stock Cummins and the "PowerJoke" always left the Cummins in the dust.
In a race between an inline engine and a Vee engine of the relatively same power, the Vee will always come out on top.
Maybe you're really a Cummins owner pretending he has always owned PowerStrokes.

From the Guidelines:
NO BRAND BASHING WILL BE ALLOWED! PERIOD!!
You know, up until the 2005 Super Duty's came out, I would have agreed with you 100%. I must say though, I'm pretty disappointed to see that Ford gave in and went from leaf to coil springs on the 4x4 SD's. Aside from the turning radius improving (which wasn't a complaint of SD owners as far as I know), they didn't really gain much. The ride of the leaf spring trucks was no worse than Dodge or GM offerings, and I really doubt the trucks will hold up as well to snow plows and such as the old SD's did.
Looks to me like Ford is now going the way of creature comforts as well.

I'm not sure this is going to be a very big deal. This setup is very close to what monster trucks use. Don't like the spring rate, change it. In addition axle wrap is eleminated but we still retain the solid front axle. Overall I think once the bugs are worked out if there are any we are going to find this will be just as strong and provide much better performance and adjustability.

Iagree the turning radius issue is a huge plus for Ford. Makes the truck way more maneurable which is a problem at times with the current setup. And yes they will ride better thats a given. The total improvments to the truck are just awesome. It will be the competitions turn to catch up. From what I heard from some Ford dealers I have visited theres been a lot of interest in the new truck that has everything to do with the new changes. BTW its been a banner year for Ford truck sales. Half a million sold so far.
But they also eliminate axle wrap and increase the turning radius and increase the width of the tire you can use off-road. Not to mention that they're stronger, and the front axles on the new SD trucks have a higher load rating than the earlier ones, they've been beefed up quite a bit.
hmm lets see how many more "wear" parts there are on a coil spring front end.
There are 3 bushings on the radius arm, other than that the rest is pretty much the same.
The leaf springs have a bushing on each end plus a bushing in the shackle. The leaves also rub together and wear on each end.
I really doubt there will be any more problems with the coil spring front end than there was with the leaves.
What Racerguy said. That coupled with the tunability you get should make for an outstanding design. Its a whole lot easier to change out a set of coils than change a set of leafs.

Like I said before. It is doubtful that you would ever have to change the leaf springs due to failure. You might change them out if you bought the truck specifically for hardcore 4x4ing and wanted to lift it and do other 4x4 mods.
