I haven't heard an Bakooza tubes lately, but I've had some older ones, and they sound great. Its a really deep bass so you need good mids and highs or all you're gonna hear is bass. If you can find a blown out bazooza tube, just replace the sub with your favorite sub and it will sound good also. I replaced an 8" bazooka with a JL Audio 8w0 and it sounded great.

I have a couple of things to say about Bazookas. So many people think they're "not cool", so they don't like them. It's one of those products that people will pass judgement on to others when they, in fact, have never even heard them. It's an ego thing. I see it all the time. Showoff, ego types would rather buy some expensive subs just so they can say they have them, for showoff ego reasons. Know what I mean. They may be some lazy-*** who does a crummy installation, and the subs may sound like ****. But that's OK, because their ego gets massaged when they point out to everyone that they have expensive Brand X, even though the dork down the street who has the Bazooka can kick his *** with his system. We are a bunch of fickle jerks sometimes. Do a blind test with some good amplified 10" Bazookas and you will be shocked. And I would never own anything with an Infinity amp in it, having suffered through owning 2 of them previously. Just my personal experience.

the main reason i dont like bazookas is because of the ones ive heard didnt sound very good, im not saying they're all bad or anything like that, it's possible the ones ive heard sucked @$$ bc like one kid had 2 12" bazookas and thought he was badass whenever he played it it made my spine shiver from the crappyness of it, its just my personal experience, im not dissing all of them but the ones ive heard sucked, but i have thought about putting them in my truck just to see what they're like, if they work for you then thats great, but ive already spent money on my subs and i dont really feel like buying any more

The 1st sub system I had was a Bazooka EL8 off a Rockford 150.1. It sucked.
For one, Bazooka's are at the low end of the food chain when it comes to bass. They serve a purpose but you can do much better. The reason some think they have great bass is because its a ported enclosure with a really high tuning frequency (around 40hz) and this gives a lot of upper end low frequency response that to the untrained ear sounds "substantial" A properly tuned Sound Quality sub system would generally be tuned somewhere between 28 and 32 hz and would have a much flatter frequency response curve. The Bazooka is very peaky and by definition is not a SQ unit.
Also, regarding the comment about sticking any ole sub in a bazooka tube is just not a good thing to do. Drivers are made with specific enclosures in mind and ever driver is different. You need to match the specs of the tube up with the Thiele/Small specs of a perspective driver. For example, sticking a sub designed solely for sealed enclosures into a tube would provide terrible results.
Bazookas are a good way to augment a mediocre stock or basic audio system but if you are going beyond that get a custom made enclosure mated to the correct sub and you will be much more happy.
