She has a 2000 with the 7.3. We bought it used a year and a half ago. I don't remember if she had that problem. First thing I did was put the black dashmat on it. 
We have put a lot of mods on it. We have to paint and put on a couple of more mods before she gets a gallery or I put photos in my gallery.
