Exclamation Please help 96 250 Relay problems

I'm having problems with my #3 relay under the hood. I started my truck last night and started hearing some noise. When I opened the hood I found that my #3 relay was clicking. When ever the relay would click the horn would also go. The horn stoped working properlly this past week. It would go off when ever I hit a bump or dip with both front tires. It will also go off when ever I push the "on" button for the curise control. I checked my manual and it says that the only thing that the relay is for is horn, so i removed the relay which also kills the curise control.

I'm trying to sell this truck and would like to have it in as good a condition as possible. Any ideas as to whats going on? Any help would really be appreciated right now.

I don't know if it's related or not, but my '97 350 PSD has some issues with the cruise control as well. It seems that if the cruise is set if I hit the turn signal to change lanes then the cruise shuts off! What's even stranger is that it only does this the first time I hit the turn signal after engaging the cruise. Once I re-engage the cruise, I can signal all I want without it turning off again (until I shut off the ignition, then the whole cycle starts over again) The cruise will also dis-engage if I turn on the emergency flashers.

Lightbulb Contact Ring

In both cases it sounds like the contact ring in the steering collum is shorting out . It's located under the sterring wheel and allows the wheel to turn and still make contact for the horn and cruise , to check you will need to pull the steering wheel off .

There are screws on the back side of the wheel that attatch the airbag/horn , once you have that out of the way you remove the nut then you will need a steering wheel puller to remove the wheel . You may also want to pull the fuses for the air bag ( you don't want it to deploy while you are removing it ) and horn .

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Do all 97's have air bags? I don't think mine does, at least not on the passenger side.

I'm pretty sure that no 97 F250HD/F350's have airbags, I've never seen an over 8500# GVWR truck older than a 99 with them(and a buddy of mine has a 97 F350 with an 02/98 build date...)
