>What be the nature of this Beast I percieve to the south?

It's a little hard to describe, it's a
mixture of good and bad, depending on where
you are. I've seen more good than bad, but
bad exists where ever you go, I've seen
racism at it's worst, and compassion at it's
best, I've seen crimes against humanity, and
love of humanity, within 5 minutes of each
other. Growing up in Canada give one a
peculiar slant on everyday life, You expect
to be treated by others as you treat them...
That doesn't happen here in the US...

No I think he is talking about the one who we are fighting alongside of in Afghanistan, and the one who is absolutley crushing our forest industry because their antiquated mills can't produce lumber at a good enough price to keep them in the market.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Mar-02 AT 07:24 PM (EST)]You certainly won't be hearing any bashing from me.
I'll probably end up defending the U.S.

Because,I like MOST things about the U.S.

Just watch for guys who HIDE their profile or identity.

No, I'm sorry I'm just feeling a little frustrated over this whole softwood lumber agreement thing, it looks like it will probably cost me my job here in B.C. It just seems to me that a person would like to treat their closest neighbor and biggest trading partner a little differently. Especially when California owes millions, and millions, and millions in past due electric bills yet the power is still being sent down there, I know what would happen to my power if I didn't pay the bill. Gotta love us Canadians though, who else would go and fight side by side against terrorism. (even if most american citizens have more firepower that our army, lol) Oh well I feel better now no biggie, just needed to vent a little, I still remember who would come and stick up for us if the mean kids on the playground wanted to pick on Canada. Cheers.

Got to take the good with the bad these days. God and country willing the good will overcome. Also never forget that the beast produces HEROES. Remember the sacrifices and the bad ones lose. An example; Omaha Beach, They be Heroes. Whether the beast is north or south the pride we have in our Heroes will make us stronger.
There are many of examples to choose from both north and south. This one comes to mind because of the impact that Saving Private Ryan had on my memories of the history that got us here. Dwell on the good and not the bad. the bad does not deserve the honor.LEST WE FORGET.
Please continue with the responses in memory of those that paid with there lives. We all have heroes in our ancestery.

I actually live in a border town (Buffalo) my dad was born and raised in Crystal Beach Canada, many relatives still living in the Ontario area. I feel at home there as much as here, and have never had a bad experience, only possitive.

I know the feeling, the town I live near (Aberdeen Wa)
is a timber town, I planted trees as a temp, I know how
these people feel, they're still cutting trees down, but
the mill work has dryed up, they're shipping the timber
to other ports, to be milled in more modern mills. One
of the biggest employers in town, who built logging
equipment, closed up last November, put a bunch of people
out of work, the economy has basically gone in the toilet.

Yeah, fortunately, my house has been insulated
beyond local code requirements, as in R25 in the
walls, and about R50 in the roof, so I don't use
much energy to heat, but the bill is still about
$80 a month...

Canzus that is exactly what I do for a living I'm a parts man for a logging equipment manufacturer here and things are tough we are on our last legs. It looks like I'm gonna be neighbors with mil1ion soon I'll be leaving for Edmonton in a week I've got a new job all lined up there. All of my family is from the U.S.A. both of my parents were born and raised in Detroit and I'm about a month away from recieving my dual citizenship. I have had no negative expierences with the run of the mill citizen, just some of the policy makers. Sorry speed fab, didn't mean to bash.

Hey thanks Dennis, gotta love Timmy's. I'm coming from Abbotsford so I'll probably just take the Yellowhead all the way. However my sweetie has a bunch of friends in Calgary so if I'm down there this summer I'll drop you a line and take you up on that offer!
