MrBeechwood- what brand of plugs are you using? I'm on that other thread, and everyone having problems has been using Autolites.

BigBlue88, I think I'm using Motorcraft, but I'll check in a couple of days. I dont think I 've had that problem on this set of plugs, but I sure have had that problem in the past.
Well, look on the bright side we will probally never snap a plug off in these motors
On the subject of heating the boss to get out the O2 sensor did you use propane or Mapp Gas/Oxygen ?
And did you heat it untill it turned bright orange or did you go easy on it ?
I really need to change the O2 sensor in a bad way.

I used a generic propane torch. Not enough BTUs to really heat it up. Took about 15 minutes of constant heat to get the thing to budge, then continued 2-5 minute heatings while unscrewing. I used a 10" pipe wrench to remove the old sensor, and that required laying on my back, holding onto the engine crossmember with my hands, and pushing as hard as I could on the wrench handle with my foot. They say you only have to warm up the engine to get the sensor out.

The sensor I removed was an NGK; the replacement was a Bosch. The Bosch took only a little periodic heating, and went in by hand with a box wrench.

I hope you have a garage to change your sensor in; it's getting cold out (at least here in Virginia).

oxy/acy torch works great heat the bung till cherry red and use the bux end of the wrench to spin it right out. after it cools some chase the threads with a 18x1.5 tap. and dont forget to use lots of anti seize on the new one to prevent it from gauling it there.
