do you really need a 4x4, i mean cant a f-150 4x2 with limited slip handle well enough in the dirt and all, basically in the country, (texas resident here).... most ppl get the 4x4 just for the higher lift, what do u think....
Do I NEED it? Ehhh maybe maybe not. We get about 3-5 days a year with snow that would require it but other than that probably not. I just couldn't own a 4x2 truck, nothing against them but....in my book why bother...get the 4x4

Who cares what you NEED, get what you want. Your paying for it!
As another texas resident, I agree, you just don't need it. 10 years ago I lived in new mexico, there a 4x4 is great. Mountains, desert, trails, you name it. A 4x4 is very useful. Now that I live in Texas, a 4x4 is overkill. If you WANT one, get one, but you'd be hard pressed to find a road in the entire state of texas that a 4 x 2 couldn't handle but a 4 x4 could. I bought the 4 x 2. I just couldn't see spending the extra money on something that I would really never use. Save the money, and buy a lift kit or something if you want it to be higher.

'round here, if you buy a 4x2, you better not plan on selling it. Oh, I suppose eventually someone will buy it, after beating you down on the price...demand is mostly for 4x4's.
That aside, I really wanted the FX4 interior. Not the XLT, not the Lariat. The black "avaiator" style interior is the best in the whole line.
I'm sure I'll probably use the 4x4 some on the snow days, but it's not like I'm going to be pounding the slick rock in Moab with a SuperCrew!

I agree with Bill. I don't need a 4x4, I don't even need a truck, but I wanted one... so I got one. XLT SCAB 2wd... It looks nice and the price was right.. I love my truck.
I have a 4x2.... There are alot of places you cannot go with a 4x2....that is if you let off the throttle. My 2 wheel drive has seen more mud than 90% of the 4x4 on the road. It doesnt snow much here in Kentucky, and when It does, I still drive in it. 4x2 is plenty for me.
The only complaint I have about the New F150 (I own it) is that the front end is pretty low to the ground. My front spoiler is pretty scuffed up.
My opinion, save the money, dont buy 4x4, dont pay the extra thousands on 4x4 insurance, get some meat on the rear tires, and hammer down. You wont get stuck often.
No, but I'd wish I had it a few times in my life if I passed on the option. Besides, the resale value is worth it. Not so much the price, but the number of people interested in it.
I live in KS where we get a little bit of everything, including a fair amount of snow some years. We had a pretty heavy winter this year and my brand new XLT SCab 2wd did great. Im glad I went 2wd, since i really dont need the 4x4. I am considering at least a daystar kit, though, b/c I like a truck to sit higher. Im not sure if a body lift is legal on a 2wd, but Im considering that as well!
I'm live in So. California and the majority of trucks are 4wd, even though 95% of them never see dirt. My prerunner 2wd gets me around offroad just fine. Isn't insurance usually, or always higher on a 4wd truck? I'd always heard that. Any Opinions on this? Insurance premiums are high out here to begin with, so if 2wd is cheaper, then another lifted 2wd might be my next truck.
