Does anybody use that green slime stuff as a flat preventative? I have heard of motorcyclists that swear by it. But the label clearly says not to use as a prevention in automotive tires. (anything with an engine and wheels is automotive)
One reason motorcyclists use it is it helps to balance the tire by spreading evenly and it stays liquid.
I thought this might help that little bit of left over shimmy.
I have also heard of using sand. (put in when tire installed)
real motorcyclists (me) wouldn't dare put that crap in my tires unless i'm stranded somewhere and when i got home i would take the wheel off and put a new tire on.
Not so fast. That is what I thought at first. But it doesn't get messy like the old aerosol crap. I belong to a "real" motorcyclist forum for Harley Owners. There are alot of people that use it. I have read many stories that proved its value!
I have no idea if this gadget www.centramatic.com/Demo/demo.php works or not, but if you try them let us know what you think. Best bet might be to have an on truck balance done.
Bravo for the real motorcyclist! Color me impressed! I didn't bother going to the link as it is probably Mr. Real racing or popping wheelies or something.
Can we get back to Fords please? All I asked is, does anybody use green slime as a prevention? I am not trying to prove anything! Like Mr. "real" above.
That Centramatic thing looks cool! I'll have to remember that. That leads me to this fact, it seems that I have less of a balance problem in the rain. Maybe the rain distibutes over the tread and acts as a dynamic (that means continuos, MR. Real) balancer!
I was just informed of a product that is designed to be used as a leak prevention 'and' a hydro-dynamic balancer. This stuff looks really neat. I bet alot people suffering from finicky balancing tires would love this.
I used green slime on a tire that had a slow leak. After using the green slime the tire has held pressure for 8 months, even after just sitting through a Michigan winter. It would probably work as a preventative for normal air loss not major tire damage.

Funny you should mention that. That is a point made to convince people that sealants can extend tire life. It can benefit people who don't often check their pressures or have the tires balanced.
