i have been looking for a sliding fifth wheel hitch (16k) and cant decide what to get. Reese and hidden hitch seem very good to me, the hidden hitch having 12" of travel, verses 9" for the reese. I just need some personal opionions and wonder what everyone thinks and other companies to look at.
I have the Reese kwik-slide 16k, installed myself. I have no complaints, has worked as promised so far. With the hitch slid back I can manuever as well as a long bed can. Can't speak for any others.
I have been using the Pullrite Superglide slider hitch for 3 years now and would highly recommend it.... It automatically move your pin back as you turn and that just takes all of the concern away when pulling a large fifth wheel (I have a 37' unit)....It's pricey but when you consider how much you are paying for your fifth wheel the cost of the hitch is small in comparison to the worry and possible repair cost to fix a dented cab/fiver front end....
I have an 03 F150 SB and bought a used TT which came with a Lil Rocker 5th wheel hitch. I stressed over placement and what to do about needing a slider, etc. for 2 weeks, when I finally bit the bullet, placed it directly over the axle, realized I could extend the king pin box 2 inches and just finished a 600 miler with ZERO problems. Drives like a dream. HOWEVER, if you are considering the Lil Rocker, and it is a nice solution, they have recently come out with a new "pin compatible" slider that fits the existing rails. I didn't need it but someone else out there might want it for comfort sake. Its called a PS-1001 and hardly anyone knows about it.
I just had a Hijacker slider installed and so far like it. Very heavy duty. I hear a lot of good things about the Husky too. Just make sure sure it has a double pivot head. Most of the 16K models do.
