I gues the advise of getting service on this soon was that over time it will get worse and eventualy you would be sorry because simple maint will have avoided a large dollar rebuild down the road.
I have an 01 xlt and the same exact thing happens every so often either between 2nd and 3rd or 3rd and 4th (one or the other not both). I got the truck at about 64000 mls and a t about 70000 I had the fluid changed to full synthetic and a new filter put in. It might have improved a little but it still happens often enough, though except for the rumbling everything still works great.
B.
dropped of my truck at aamco today. They did a full flush filter and fill of the transmission. changed the transfer case fluid - drained and changed the rear end fluid.
seems to have fixed the "ripple effect" I did't hear the rumble strip noise at all on the way home. they said everthing looked great but its always a good idea to change the fluid like that on a regular basis. its something to many people seems to ignore.
Same here, the dealer flushed the trans and changed the filter. Took care of everything, just glad they pushed it as a warranty item, normal charge is $199.
