I purchased two new 35x10.50 boggers for my muddbogger and have a ?. On the longest and medium luggs there are two cutts in the center of the luggs, is this so that the luggs will flex a little? Went to a muddbogg this weekend and everyone was asking the same ? when they looked at the tires.
yeah they make grooves in the tread block to flex better. it was probably done for rocks so the lugs aren't so big and are able to flex around the rock or terrain better.
yea it helps them flex better, and they last longer for on road use, and if you notice they also have the leading edge on both the long, and medium lugs already cupped.
BTW pro just because the aint 4ft tall, and 1-1/2 wide they are still bias, but have the advantage of not having to raise the tonnage on your lic to run them.
Thanks guys for the info. sure appreciate it. If you guys ever get down to Texas in August come join the muddbogg, we had 188 runs in one pit. Placed 10 out of 34 trucks im 35 to 39.5 class, was proud of my little tired ford, and Pro just we run little ones doesn't me can't run with the big one!! just giving a hard time. Once again thanks for the info.
sounds cool man! hey just outta curosity did you buy these boggers new or used? because i don't think they are cut like that from the factory i think someone had them grooved.
Actually they almost had to be new that size has only been out since, about may of this year, and yes they did come out that way, that is the same size I run on the rear of my truck, and they are cut the same way, bought them in june this year brand new.
dbhr I would love to come down there and try that if I could find the time. I am supprised thought since those tire are the smallest in your class you didn't go with the 38x11 boggers as I would have left you in the same class, and given you another 3in of clearence I run the 35s becuase tht is the largest you can run in one of the classes I race up here, and if ever in Iowa around the first of a month come race with us, first sunday of every month until Oct.
Bought them brand new. Monsterbaby the reason I run the 35s is because they only have this bogg once a year, I run mostly in oklahoma in the 35 under class. Don't see any reason to buy bigger tires for one run a season. Plan on starting too build a big ford truck too run with the big tires this winter.
oh wow! thats siping, thats totally different then what i was thinking of. I guess they do it to give you a little more traction on wet pavement and to promote cooling so the tread lasts longer. there aren't many seeps (cuts) so I don't know how effective it would be though.
Yea, all that is is siping. I had pictured it with wide cuts by the description, which wouldn't makes sense to me. Anyways, I wasn't implying that those weren't bias, frankly I have no clue. I was merely mentioning that I had never seen boggers like that before, but since I've really never looked at the little ones like that it doesn't mean much. Frankly, I'm surprised they'd bother siping any bogger.
yea I agree with you pro, I don't understand the sipping either the back cutting yes. I knew what it was and I know what you were thinking guess I should have made it more clear, the biggest thing I see with sipping like this is if you are cutting them, and scooping out the leading edges I think the sipping would cause a problem, and probably end up breaking the outside part of the lug off.
