I am a new comer to the forum. I have a 350 w/700R4 and putting it in a 56 big back window. I am installing a wideride from No Limit. Has anyone installed one and if so can I put the engine and trans in without putting the cab on the frame? Can it be mounted in the center of the truck or does it need offsetting? I also have the wiring harness (for the engine & computer) from the donor truck. Will it be necessary to buy a TBI harness or can I use the donor truck harness? Not real sharp on auto wiring. Also, I have a chevy steering column. Can anyone tell me how to mount it in the truck? Does it go thru the existing hole in the floor or do I cut one higher? I also plan to put a dash extension under the dash for AC vents. I know I have rambled and asked a bunch of questions, but I know there are experts out there because I have read you comments. Thanks.

I don't know what wideride is, but I used No-Limit's offset motor mounts for my 350 and TH350 in my 48 F-3. It gave me enough room to use stock exhaust manifolds which is what I wanted. My cab is still mounted so I can't address placing of the engine, but I have at least six inches behind my distributor to the firewall and I'm using the long water pump. It's always easier to use an aftermarket wiring harness instead of the donor truck's and I would do that since you admit to having little wiring experience. I used a Chrysler column and was able to run the column through the existing hole in the floor. You should be able to do the same with the GM column. Hope this helps some.
BTW, don't expect too much help from the die hard blue oval guys on your engine install.
