I did a 12 volt conversion on my 55 F-100 today and got everything to work well with the exception of installing a regulator for the charging system. Does anyone know what 12 volt regulator I should use in conjunction with a 12 volt generator that I plan to use on the truck...part #'s etc?? Thanks
I just go to NAPA and tell them I need a regulator for a '57. Works fine. If you get that blank look "uh, man, it's not in the computer", just ask them to look it up in the parts book that they have under the counter.........

Welcome to FTE!
Problem is mtfalt is teh 55 came with a 6V generator...
Sorry can't help here, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to provide the "insight & knowledge" you need!
The other issue you will have to walk thru using the 12 volt 57 generator /regulator combo is the fact the 6 volt was positive ground. Some gauges will have to be switched around. I believe the Batt gauge will work the opposite ( show a Discharge when actually charging. Maybe someone will chime in who has done the swap more recently. The only gauge you have to be careful with is the fuel gauge. (delicate)
