emmision problems, please help me!!!
I have a 1990 ford ranger 2.3liter, 4cyl, dual ignition, 5 speed manual, 2 wheel drive, regular cab, short bed, cap, california emmisions, 120,000.
I have had problems with it for a while now. It smokes dark black, has no power, barely runs. I have replaced the computer and oxygen sensor, oxygen sensor is what the computer always says is wrong.

Since it would appear you've ruled out the O2 sensor, have you checked the fuel pressure regulator for failure? The smell of gas in the vac line leading to the pressure regulator = failed pressure regulator.

Welcome! I agree with Billy, it could very well be fuel-related, as if something is causing too much fuel to be dumped into the combustion chambers. A failed FPR would do that.
Post the codes that you are getting here, too. Keep in mind that often times an 02 sensor-related code ("system indicates rich", for example) has nothing to do with a bad 02 sensor, it's just the sensor reacting and responding to existing conditions that are being affected (adversely) by something else gone wrong...
